Here’s 17 minutes of Code Vein gameplay that’s very Souls-like

Announced earlier this year by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Code Vein is an action-RPG being developed by Shift (God Eater) that’s unabashedly in the same, ehem, vein as From Software’s Dark Souls/Bloodborne style of games. What separates Code Vein is that you’re in a post-apocalyptic dystopia, and you’re a vampire.

As  part of IGN’s "First" feature, a 17-minute Code Vein gameplay clip has just been revealed, and as one can expect, it really does look and feel like a Souls game. There’s the giant weapon that you can swing about, enemies that are tough to kill and more. However, Code Vein does have a few tricks up its sleeve. One of them are the "gifts" that are vampiric abilities that you can unleash when you gain enough blood charges. Gifts run the gamut from being able to fire projectiles, speed your character up, do more damage and a lot more. Check out the Code Vein to se some co-op action.

It does have a more anime look to it, which separates it from Dark Souls’ gloomy aesthetics. Code Vein is set for release sometime in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Are you liking what you’ve seen of Code Vein so far? Or is it too much like the Souls series? Let us know what you think in the comments.
