Sony has released PS4 update 5.01 for download today, although there’s no point in getting too excited as it’s only a very minor update to improve console performance.

Sony’s official PS4 update 5.01 patch notes confirm that “this system software update improves system performance.” The update weighs in at 357.3MB.
This should come as no surprise, considering the format holder has only recently launched PS4 update 5.00, which added a number of key new features for the console.
Sony typically launches minor PS4 updates to incrementally improve the performance of its flagship console. Major updates are usually preceded by a dedicated beta, allowing console owners to test our new features ahead of release.
