With Final Fantasy XIV‘s most recent patch, Trail to the Heaven (aka 7.5), Square Enix has announced a free login campaign for players that might have been taking a little bit of a break while waiting for the update. In Patch 7.5 you will be able to fight the dreaded Enuo or go through the lovely area of Windurst as a part of Nostalgia for Final Fantasy XI. This login campaign kicked off May 16, 2026 and runs until June 14 at 14.59 GMT (15th June at 0.59 AEST).
Plus, with the patch there have been a few changes to make your gameplay feel simpler. For example, in the dye system, rather than having tonnes of multiple different dyes, there is now a smaller selection that will open up a window allowing you to access all the previous dyes without having to fill your inventory with them. For those who own a house, the item slots have also been increased, though there do seem to be some issues with the increased housing limitations.
Another big change is a lot of the gear that could not be stored in the armoire, including the most recent dungeon gear, can now be stored in the armoire. This frees up multiple different item slots in the glamour dresser and your character. If you have multiple jobs at the level cap, or you just really like to make different outfits, this is a really important change. I personally was always running out of slots due to different gear pieces.
Also with Patch 7.5, Shadowbringers has now been included with the starter edition of FFXIV. So, if you previously owned the Starter edition, it will now be upgraded to include this incredible expansion!
To join the 4-day login campaign, which allows you to play the game for free, follow these 3 steps.
- Have previously purchased and registered a copy of Final Fantasy XIV
- All registered service accounts must be set as inactive during the campaign period.
- Registered accounts must have been inactive for a minimum of 30 days.
Please note that the free time starts the moment you log in, so the client update period is also included with your free login, though if you own the game on PS5 or on Xbox, you will be able to update the client without logging in. This means for those two systems, the update will not affect your number of hours depending on the speed of your connection on PC. Once the campaign period is over, you will need to pay the standard subscription price.
