PS3 platformer up for five BAFTA awards

The nominations for the upcoming British Academy Video Games Awards, due to take place at the London Hilton on Mach 10, have been revealed and PlayStation 3 platformer LittleBigPlanet is featured heavily alongside the likes of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Fable II.

LittleBigPlanet is nominated for prestigious awards in five categories: Artistic Achievement, Casual, Original Score, Technical Achievement and Use of Audio. There are only three other games to exceed that amount of nominations, including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which features in the following categories: Action & Adventure, Story & Character, Best Game, Artistic Achievement, Gameplay, Multiplayer and Use of Audio. Fable II and GTA IV also feature in seven different categories.

LittleBigPlanet is up against some tough competition, but we thoroughly expect it walk away with something on the night.

Other nominated games include: Assassin’s Creed, Dead Space, Fallout 3, and even Singstar Vol 2, which goes up against LittleBigPlanet in the casual games category.

This year’s special award will be received by Nolan Bushnel, the founder of Atari and the creator of Pong.

The full list of nominees and categories can be found at BAFTA’s website.
