Street Fighter x Tekken revealed

Capcom and Namco have officially lifted the lid on the crossover beat ’em up Street Fighter x Tekken at the San Diego Comic-Con this week.

Taking the form of a 2D fighter, the title was demoed live briefly and featured a tag-in like mechanism similar to Marvel vs Capcom, with Street Fighter’s Ryu and Chun-Li squaring up against Tekken’s Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams.

According to Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono and Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada, the game has been on the cards for quite some time, with discussions on the brawler having taken place at least a year ago.

As mentioned earlier in the week courtesy of GameInformer, two variations of the title will be released, one by Capcom and one by Namco, with the latter known as Tekken x Street Fighter. Capcom’s version will be first out the door, with each title featuring the visual style of both franchises.

Both games are in the works for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though the pair won’t be released “for a while.” Check out some footage below.
