UPDATE 06/08/2024: Shortly after 9am on August 6, a release date trailer for A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead was revealed, officially confirming (for real this time) the October 17, 2024 release date.
You can check out the trailer for yourself, below.
Original Story:
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is arriving on PS5 this coming October 17, 2024 – but technically at time of writing this we shouldn’t know that information, and we only do because the official PlayStation Twitter account let it slip with a now deleted tweet that went live ahead of schedule.
The news went live on August 5 at 9pm, so one could guess that since it’s still not been re-posted that it was originally meant to go live at 9am on August 6. No matter now though, since the tweet could not be deleted faster than the internet could screenshot and share the news.
Gematsu caught the news and a screenshot of the tweet prior to it being taken down, so now we all know when the first major video game based off the horror franchise will arrive on current-gen platforms.
The horror series of films now has a total of three movies in the franchise, the first two following a family who has been struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where an alien invasion wipes out millions of humans and shuts the world down. The third film is instead a prequel, taking viewers back to the first day the aliens appeared on Earth, and the chaos that followed.
These aliens are incredibly fast, strong, and most importantly have hearing capabilities unlike anything we’ve ever seen, which is why being quiet is what keeps you alive.
This is the key fact the franchise hinges on, which is great but challenging fodder for a horror game. It’ll be interesting to see how developer Stormind Games handles sound and what sounds the player can and cannot make without suddenly being on the run from these creatures.
At least now we know we can expect to find out for ourselves just in time for this year’s Halloween.
