When the PlayStation 4 was originally announced, Sony intensely specified that the console was a gaming-first system. Sony played its cards right earning the respect of gamers across the globe. The company knew what gamers wanted, which was a system that could truly bring in the next generation of gaming. Gamers wanted a system that they could make new memories on, a place where they could truly immerse themselves in powerful rich stories and a deep ever changing multiplayer experience.
But then, at Sony’s E3 press conference in Los Angeles, something new was announced. Sony sought to bring in a new kind of entertainment in a way they’ve never done before. Their answer was working with Sony Pictures Television to develop an exclusive PlayStation Plus cop drama called Powers. Starring, Sharlto Copley and Deena Pilgrim as two hard-nosed kick-ass detectives working together to investigate homicide cases related to supervillains.
You can find the trailer for Powers below.
Sony had previously released a teaser poster showing both detectives Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Susan Heyward (Deena Pilgrim). The 1-minute-and 30-something second trailer was released this weekend at the New York City Comic Con right before the show’s dedicated panel. The trailer features some of the back story of Christian Walker and his emergence into the Special Homicide Division.
Having seen the trailer for myself, I can admit I’m extremely excited to seeing where this show can go. I trust in Sony Pictures Television to bring in a new dynamic to an already striving PlayStation community. The work that they’ve done with hit shows such as NBC’s, The Blacklist and AMC’s Breaking Bad, proves that the group working on Powers is more than capable to bring in a new dramatic thriller.
Powers will be released sometime next year and promises to be worth the wait.
