Japanese giant Square Enix has registered a new trademark titled, ‘A World of the Versus Epic.’
Spotted by AGB, the trademark pertains to ‘computer games software’ as well as various merchandise and action figures.
While the trademark may not seem that noteworthy at first, it’s worth remembering that the forthcoming Final Fantasy XV was originally titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII prior to its E3 re-reveal last month.
From the look of things, it would appear that Square Enix isn’t quite ready to part with the Versus moniker entirely. However, it remains unknown if this is related to FFXV at all, or something separate entirely.
What do you think, readers? Is this related to a possible merchandising campaign for Final Fantasy XV or related materials, or something different altogether? Post your thoughts in the comments section below.
