Maverick Games News open world Playground Games PS5

AAA Studio Maverick Games Founded By Former Playground Games Devs

A number of key staff members at Playground Games have left the Microsoft-owned studio to form a new triple-A studio named Maverick Games.

Based in Lemington Spa, UK, Maverick Games is helmed by Mike Brown, the former Creative Director behind Forza Horizon, who is serving once again as creative director and also studio head for the new outfit. Maverick Games is working on its debut title, an open-world game, for PC and consoles.

Also on the team are Harinder Sangha (CEO), previously of Sumo Digital Leamington, and producer Tom Butcher, who worked at Playground Games as lead producer.

Brown commented:

Our goal is for Maverick Games to be a studio people will love. For players, we’re already at work on an exciting ultra-high quality title, and for developers, we’re building a home where everyone is encouraged to take risks, be curious, be creative, be innovative, be themselves, and above all – be a Maverick.

That’s about all we know so far, although it’ll be a while before we hear anything else seeing as how the studio has only just been founded.
