Activision has announced that it will be showcasing gameplay footage of the new Call of Duty title at E3 2016 in June.
“In June, we’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game," the publishing behemoth said in a recent blog entry.
“We’re looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We’re proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won’t have an Activision booth on the show floor.”
What still isn’t known, however, is what type of Call of Duty Infinity Ward currently has in the pipeline. Recently, it emerged from publication GamesTM that the project will be a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts, although this is probably just speculation on the magazine’s part, as nothing formal has been confirmed at present.
The Call of Duty franchise is currently on a three-year development cycle per game, split between three studios: Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch. Infinity Ward’s last effort was 2013’s CoD: Ghosts, with Sledgehammer working on 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Treyarch releasing Black Ops 3 last year.
Call of Duty was first released on the PC in 2003 and the series has since gone on to sell over 250 million copies worldwide.
