Activision want compensation for Rock Band patch

Activision has revealed the reasons behind the delay of a patch for Rock Band.

The company refused to authorise a patch to enable their Guitar Hero III controllers to be compatibile for Rock Band, and have said that compensation is the issue preventing its release.

Rock Band developers Harmonix had announced that it had submitted a patch to Sony so that the GHIII controllers could be used as second guitars for the game’s multiplayer modes on PS3, like on the Xbox 360 version.

Activision spokeswoman Maryanne Lataif clarified earlier statements. "Unfortunately for Rock Band users, Harmonix has been unwilling to discuss an agreement that will allow us to provide that option in a manner that maintains the high standards people have come to expect from Activision," she told the newspaper, adding, "We believe we should be compensated for the use of our technology."

Consumers continue to be affected by this dispute, and Activision are hardly covering themselves in glory with their present stance.
