Alan Wake 2 Free DLC Confirmed By Sam Lake, Will Be ‘Pretty Significant’

Speaking at EGX over the weekend, Remedy’s Sam Lake confirmed that the upcoming Alan Wake 2 will support free DLC in addition to the previously-confirmed paid-for DLC.

Here’s what Lake said during an on-stage interview:

We do have free DLC drops coming and they are pretty significant. I’m expecting us to be going more into detail pretty soon after the game is out, but all of that will be free for everyone who gets the game.

Alan Wake 2 takes place nearly 15 years after the events of the original game, where we find the titular writer still trapped in the Dark Place. Meanwhile, newcomer and FBI agent, Saga Anderson, is called to the idyllic town of Bright Falls to investigate a string of ritualistic murders. This forms the game’s two campaigns as players control Alan and Saga through their own separate adventures, with the series’ familiar burn-away-the-darkness mechanic returning during battles with foes.

Unlike the original Alan Wake, the sequel is a full-blown survival horror game and will also clock in at around 20 hours, making it by far Remedy’s longest ever game. Alan Wake 2 launches for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on October 27, 2023.
