Alien Isolation 2 update: Creative Assembly working on different game

According to sources close to Eurogamer, Creative Assembly is in fact not working on Alien Isolation 2, despite rumors to the contrary that cropped up in the latest issue of OPM UK.

PSU obtained a copy of the magazine and yesterday reported of the publication’s rumor machine section, which claimed that Creative Assembly would produce a sequel to its hit survival horror title following completion on the Xbox One and PC title, Halo Wars 2. However, this now appears not to be the case.

Eurogamer’s own sources have told us this isn’t the case. Although the Halo Wars 2 team has already started prototyping its next project, likely to be a couple of years away from completion, this won’t be an Alien title,” the website wrote today.

If that wasn’t enough to dampen hopes of Alien Isolation 2 showing its face, Eurogamer goes on to state that most of the team from the original game are no longer working at Creative Assembly.

Alien Isolation was released on PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in September 2014. The game takes place 15 years after the events of the original sci-fi horror film Alien, and sees Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, stalked by a single Xenomorph while attempting to investigate the disappearance of her mother. While receiving positive reviews from critics, Alien Isolation was sadly not as commercially successful as SEGA had hoped for, despite selling around two million copies worldwide as of March 2015.

Rumors of an Alien Isolation 2 release have been doing the rounds for a while now, although it’s looking less likely we’ll ever see a follow-up at this point. Would you like to see Alien Isolation 2 on PS4? Let us know in the comments section below.
