AM2 hints at online patch for Virtua Fighter 5

Owners of the PlayStation 3 version of the latest iteration in the classic fighting series, Virtua Fighter, felt shafted when it was announced that the Xbox 360 port of the title would have online functionality. However, TVG’s interview with AM2 Producer Tohru Murayama at GC’07 provided a glimmer of hope for early adopters.

Murayama understood the unfortunate situation for Virtua Fighter PS3 owners:

"In the case of PlayStation 3, our first priority was to convert Virtua Fighter 5 from the arcade onto [the PS3] as soon as possible," he told the site. "To achieve that purpose we had to give up the development of the online mode — we’d love to try if there was time and the budget but unfortunately, we had to give up on that idea. AM2 are sorry to PS3 users — a lot of people say that it is one of the missing things from the version."

When asked if AM2 could implement a patch to solve the issue, Murayama responded, "no doubt."

It is now that the PlayStation community needs to speak up for what it wants. So start your petitions, send your e-mails and do whatever it takes (within reason) to make your desires clear.
