Amazon UK will close its videogame trade-in service on August 31, 2015.
Users will still be able to trade-in games up to that date, and its Sell on Amazon service will not be affected, so games can still be sold on the online retail portal.
On in official statement, Amazon UK wrote:
“We are closing our Trade-In programme on 31 August 2015 .We will no longer be accepting trade-in submissions after this date.
You can submit trade-in items as normal up to and including 31 August 2015. No Trade-In orders can be submitted online after the closure date. Please ensure your trade-in items are dispatched within 7 days after your submission. Trade-Ins sent after this time will not be accepted by us and will be returned to your address. Please note trade-in submissions sent via Royal Mail may take up to 6 business days to arrive before your submission is processed.”
The closure of the game trade-in service is likely due to the lack of demand, and the rise of digital distribution.
