Another new Yakuza game is in development for the PlayStation 3, confirmed by director Toshihiro Nagoshi in this week’s Famitsu. You can expect the game to be formally announced and detailed at the Tokyo Games Show in September.
Details are scarce at this time, but Nagoshi did confirm that Majima Goro will be a playable character. No word at this time for when the game will be released. In addition to Goro, you’ll be able to play as several different characters. This deviates from previous entries where the game featured Kazuma Kiryu as the main character. In this new game, Nagoshi says we’ll find Goro taking the lead as main character.
You may recall that Sega recently announced that Yakuza 4, first released in March in Japan, will be released to the rest of the world sometime next year. Yakuza 3 was released in the west earlier this year. Yakuza was first released in Japan in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, with subsequent sequels landing on the PS3.
There is already a PSP game in the works, Yakuza: New Chapter Black Panther.
