Are PSN code generators for PS3 and PS4 a scam?

PSN code generators have been around for a long time, but with the arrival of the PlayStation 4 there’s an influx of new generators hitting the net aimed at those looking for free PSN credit to top up their wallets.

Are they a scam?
Quite simply, yes, and this is how they work. PSN Code Generators will often look legit, generating numerical and alpha codes that look like they could be redeemed on PSN. The scammers often create a YouTube video explaining the simple process to obtain a code and it will show them generating a code and then redeeming it on the store. The aim is to give you confidence in their service and trick you into making it look like it works. You’ll be sent a downlink link to download a RAR file and text file to your PC and will be prompted to fill in a survey. This where the scammers make money as they get paid each time a person completes an online survey.

If you do manage to get into the password encrypted file, you’ll soon find out that none of the codes you generate will work, and your PC has probably downloaded a virus in the process.

You rarely get anything for free in this world and the only way for you to get PSN credit is to pay for it with your hard-earned cash. You have been warned.
