Having already been playable via early access on PC and Xbox One, ARK: Survival Evolved on PS4 should benefit greatly from the extensive testing on other platforms, and via the ARK: Survival Evolved Foundation Pack players get all the content from the builds on other platforms, including the Scorched Earth expansion pack.
Available as part of the ARK: Survival Evolved PS4 Survivor’s Pack, PlayStation gamers also get two exclusive pieces of content, which include:
- Bionic Giganotosaurus skin
- A full Manticore armor set for all male and female characters
So, what’s ARK: Survival Evolved about?
Powered by Unreal Engine 4, and developed by Studio Wildcard, with the PS4 port handled by Absolution Games, ARK is an open-world, action-adventure game where players are stranded on an island full of dinosaurs. With the action taking place from either first-person or third-person mode, the idea of the game is to explore the land and equip yourself for survival.
You can kill, tame and ride dinosaurs as you hunt and gather resources which enables you to craft items, grow crops, build shelters, and research new technology. There’s also the ability to hook up with other players to help survive against the raging beasts of the island.
As you progress you earn experience points allowing you to boost attributes, and earn points which can be spent on engrams to unlock higher tiered items and recipes. Essentially, you can expect an in-depth role-playing system where you have to evolve your character’s skills.
Constructing villages, riding a T-Rex and battling against other tribes are just a few of the things you can expect to be doing with your time in ARK: Survival Evolved, which is expected to release in its full state with a major update in Spring 2017.
The next ARK: Survival Evolved update v748.0 will introduce new achievements for Xbox One players, but PS4 players can already take advantage of wide range of trophies to unlock.
Ark Survival Evolved price
The Ark Survival Evolved PS4 release date is December 6 with the recommended retail price is £59.99, but you should be able to pick it up at retail for around the £45 mark, or you can download it directly from the PlayStation Store.
