Ark Survival Evolved update v510 LIVE, patch notes available

The delayed ARK Survival Evolved update v510 has launched today on PS4 ahead of the full release of Studio Wildcard's dinosaur survival game.

The patch was supposed to be released last week, but an update from the ARK Twitter account confirms that it was deployed earlier.

The full, official release of ARK is due on August 8 which will feature the huge Ragnarok update. This PS4 patch, however, is a sizeable update at 11.42GB that will fix a bunch of the game's bugs and DNS issues.

Update v510 will be BIG

“It's been a long wait, and this is going to be a very big patch, but there will be a lot of improvements, especially to dashboarding as our new memory-management system comes in place,” confirmed the developer.

Here’s the ARK v510 patch notes:

Current Version: v510

  • Admin command menu now must be activated by pressing L1+R1+Square+Triangle simultaneously on the Pause Menu.
  • If you would like to play The Center map without advancing through The Island ascension, launch the Island and then open the command menu. Type in cheat playercommand Ascend1. Once finished you’ll be able to load The Center as normal.
  • Option to change the function of pressing left-analog in the Settings menu. When “Quick Toggle Item Names” is checked, you can use left-analog press to show or hide item names in the inventory. When unchecked, it will switch between inventories when pressed (this is how it functioned before, so uncheck it to make it how it used to be).
  • In building placement mode, Reload Key (Square) is switched to Accept Placement of a structure, (X) to jump while placing structure, (R1) to cycle snap points, (will indicate in Options menu in future version).

The Ragnarok update v511 will be free DLC expansion for PS4 and Xbox One owners and will launch with the physical release of the game in August.

Meanwhile, some fans aren't entirely happy with the controversial ARK Survival Evolved price hike which has seen the game rise to £49.99 on Steam.
