Prey and Redfall developer Arkane Austin was reportedly hoping to get back into the immersive sim genre prior to its closure by Microsoft, according to an article on Bloomberg.
Before its closure, Arkane had been looking to return to its roots by pitching a new single-player ‘immersive sim’ game, such as a new entry in the Dishonored series, according to the people familiar.
Bloomberg added that Microsoft’s Matt Booty told staff during a town hall meeting on Wednesday that Redfall’s critical and commercial failure was not the reason for shuttering Arkane Austin. In addition, ZeniMax Studios’ Jill Braff told attendees that she hoped the closure would allow the company to concentrate on fewer larger projects.
