From Software’s confirmed that Armored Core 5 will hit Japanese retailers in October 2011, with a European date pencilled in for 2012.
Due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game will retail for 7,800 yen and will also be treated to a closed beta prior to launch.
Armored Core 5 doffs its cap to the original PSOne entry by focusing more on tactics and using the geography of level as opposed to dexterous finger work. The game features smaller mechs this time around in order to accommodate more varied, “three dimensional” stages.
An online mode is also included, featuring team-based battles with five-on-five action. Each side will duke it out over a specific objective, with one player – dubbed the Operator – tasked with overseeing the battle and barking out orders to his or her teammates.
