Arrowhead Game Studios‘ Johan Pilestedt has revealed that it is prototyping a roguelite mode for Helldivers 2, having dropped the news during an exchange with a fan on X.
The user mentioned they were hoping “to have some sort of roguelite/endless mode where we fight waves and waves or keep completing objectives on the same map.” In response, the executive stated, “Hey! We have a prototype of a rogue-lite mode,” before adding, “It changes the game fundamentally!”

That’s about all Pilestedt would share on the roguelite mode for now, although hopefully more details were be made available soon enough. Recently, Arrowhead’s CEO Shams Jorjani revealed that the team has been busy getting the performance of Helldivers 2 up to scratch, revealing there’s “more work to be done” on this front.
Helldivers 2 was released for PS5 and PC in February 2024 to huge success, becoming one of the best-selling video games of that year and remains a perennially popular multilayer attraction. Arrowhead’s post-launch support for Helldivers 2 has been fairly robust, with new Warbonds and other content updates keeping things ticking over, not to mention numerous performance and balance updates that have kept the game in solid shape.
