Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will launch on July 9, 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, following a countless leaks over the past few weeks.
Powered by the latest iteration of the Anvil Engine, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced features a number of enhancements over the original 2013 version of the swashbuckling adventure game. Obviously, the visuals have been completely overhauled thanks to the power of the latest hardware, but there’s huge amounts of improvements to the gameplay; combat is refined, parkour has been revamped (manual jump, side ejects, back ejects etc) and the Jackdaw expands with new weapons and other features such as officers that boast unique abilities.
Changes have also been made to various quest mechanics. For example, remember those annoying eavesdropping missions that had you following your target(s), only for it to instantly fail if you were discovered? Well, that’s been tweaked! Instead, you won’t fail the mission if you are discovered, but must adapt accordingly.
Stealth has also been given a shot in the arm as you can now crouch whenever you want and don’t have to rely on simply hiding in tall grass to help you remain undetected.
As with the original game, the story follows Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III’s Connor, as he becomes embroiled in the long-running battle between the assassins and the Templar Order. That narrative has been preserved completely for Black Flag Resynced, so Kenway is still going to be stealthily (or not) dispatching foes, hunting for hidden treasures, attacking forts with the Jackdaw, and brushing shoulders with historical figures such as Blackbeard and Mary Reed.
Oh, and you can also now take on pets for the Jackdaw, with monkeys and cats now joining our on deck as you sail the Caribbean. New scenes are also added, including a sequence with Edward’s wife, Caroline, and characters such as Blackbeard are also being expanded with new narrative threads.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is out on July 9 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
