Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Remake Reportedly Entered Production In September 2023

Ubisoft’s long-rumoured Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake entered production in September 2023, according to the LinkedIn profile of a lead artist working at the publisher’s Singapore studio.

The LinkedIn profile mentions the individual being involved in an ‘unannounced project’ since September 2023, having previously worked on Assassin’s Cred Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Siege of Paris.

The Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Remake was first rumoured to be in the pipeline last summer, although Ubisoft still hasn’t officially announced the project. However, given that the original Black Flag was one of the most popular Assassin’s Creed games (it was effectively a pirate simulator more than anything), it’s unsurprising Ubisoft would want to give it a modern glow up.

Ubisoft currently has a number of Assassin’s Creed games in production beyond the Black Flag remake, including Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, which are set in ancient Japan and Europe during the witch trials, respectively.
