The Writer’s Guild of America has revealed some of the talent that will be scribbling for Netflix’s planned live-action series of Assassin’s Creed, including the award-winning novelist Emily St John Mandel, who is best known for her work on post-apocalyptic stories Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel.
In addition to her work on those novels, Mandel also worked the HBO TV adaptation of Station Eleven as a producer, and is attached to the God of War series as an executive story editor. Beyond that, the WGA listing also confirms that screenwriter San Toossi is working on the Assassin’s Creed series, alongside The Walking Dead World Beyond’s Sam Reynolds.

Meanwhile, Halo TV series producer Tom Hemmings is also lending his writing talents to the project, while David M Wiener and Roberto Patino, who served as executive producer on Halo and Westworld, respectively. Claire Kiechel, who has worked on Watchmen and The Acolyte, is attached as co-executive producer alongside Good American Family’s Jaquén Castellanos.
Last month it was revealed that the Assassin’s Creed series is still very much alive despite being announced five years ago, being listed as in ‘active’ development in a Game File report. The most recent entry in the video game series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, was released in March for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
