Assassin’s Creed Shadows Canon Mode Is The Official Ubisoft Way To Play, But Reduces Dialogue Choices & Romance Options

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is out today, and one of the features that has got people nattering is the Canon Mode, which serves as the ‘official’ way to play the game as Ubisoft designed it. However, it has emerged that there are a some drawbacks to playing this mode.

YouTuber JorRaptor has gone into detail on Canon Mode, revealing that it offers a more cinematic, albeit linear experience for Assassin’s Creed Shadows that makes significant cuts to dialogue options and other choices. “You are basically experiencing the events in the way that Ubisoft intended them,” notes JorRaptor.

Decisions such as choosing whether or not to spare someone’s life are given the boot, and many of the romance options are completely eschewed. In addition, Canon Mode doesn’t guarantee you will receive the best ending or even a good conclusion to the story, and players aren’t able to recruit all their allies as the choices necessary to bring certain people along are not available to you.

Having said that, JorRaptor added that you can still achieve 100% completion in Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Canon Mode and unlock all Trophies/Achievements.
