Assassin’s Creed Shadows is due to launch this coming November, with all signs so far pointing to it being an exciting new entry in the franchise not only because it finally brings the series to Japan.
Today was meant to be another step in showcasing the things players should be getting excited about with Shadows, with a presentation that was meant to be included in Tokyo Game Show 2024.
But as Insider-Gaming points out, the publisher backed out of the show at the last minute, cancelling their appearance days before it was meant to happen. What’s more though, according to that same report, is that Ubisoft has also allegedly cancelled press previews that were meant to happen next week.
And that there’s currently no sign that there will be previews ahead of the game’s release at all. Regarding TGS 2024, Ubisoft published a statement that reads,
“We regret to inform you that due to various circumstances, we have decided to cancel our online participation in Tokyo Game Show 2024 which was scheduled to start at 3:00 PM on September 26th. We apologize for the short notice. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the broadcast.”
PSU reached out to Ubisoft for a comment on this story, asking for confirmation as to the previews being cancelled, reasoning behind the TGS 2024 cancellation, and if there’s something happening with Shadows that could result in a delay.
“We do not have anything further to share on that topic,” is all a Ubisoft spokesperson would comment for now.
So we’re left in the dark to wonder what’s going on with Shadows, and that’s exactly what the rest of the internet is doing, as concerns around the game are bubbling up online.
A delay could very well be incoming, since it’s not impossible that the development team has encountered something late in the process that’s causing a myriad of issues they now need to scramble to fix.
