Ubisoft‘s Karl Onnée has revealed during a chat with IGN that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature seasons that will have a direct impact on the game world.
Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter seasons will all be featured in the latest chapter in Ubisoft’s long-running stealth-action franchise, and Onnée offered examples of how they will affect the game world. For example, a pond may be there in the summer, but in the winter time it’s frozen over, meaning you can’t dive in.
We’ve been pushing about ensuring that gameplay and art are not separate, but they’re intertwining. You create new, and you remove, at the same time, different ways and routes of infiltration.

Meanwhile, the game’s art director, Thierry Dansereau revealed that season will only change during the main campaign in order to be as “authentic as possible to match historical events.”
In an open world [side] quest, it might happen that you will play a quest in Autumn and I will play the same quest, and I’m going to be in Summer. So, that’s up to the system and the way you play your game.
As previously reported on PSU, the game’s creative director also told IGN that Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ map is comparable in size to Assassin’s Creed Origins, so it’ll be bigger than last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on November 15, 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
