Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will see the return of a present-day storyline, its creative director has revealed in an interview with GameSpot.
“The Assassin’s Creed series story is still going somewhere, absolutely,” said Marc-Alexis Cote. “The overarching story is divided up into cycles. So we had what we called the Desmond cycle, which ended with AC3. Black Flag was the transition point between the Desmond cycle and the new cycle.
“I can’t go into details about the present-day story, other than to say it is coming back, it is going to make sense for our players, and they’re going to understand the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars.”
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate takes place in Victorian-era London and centres on siblings Jacbo and Evie Frye as they attempt to liberate the city from the Templars. Unlike recent entries in the series, Syndicate won’t feature any form of multiplayer mode.
The game is due out in October for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. The game will form part of Ubisoft’s Gamescom 2015 lineup next week. Check out the latest footage here and be sure to read our E3 2015 hands-on impressions too.
