Originally released on PC by Japanese indie developer Playism, Astebreed is zooming onto PS4 on June 25, priced $19.99.
The space-based shooter features roaming camera angles designed to give the gameplay a cinematic feel as players shoot lazers and missiles at oncoming enemies.
Similar to side-scrolling shoot ‘em ups of old, the mechs in Astebreed are circled by tiny nodes that shoot out lazers in all directions, while a blade allows players to slice up enemies at close range.
Enhancements to the original PC game include new upgrades, a dash ability and tweaks to the control system to make it intuitive to play with a DualShock 4 controller.
Astebreed will also run at 60 frames-per-second and be decked out with 1080p visuals with improved textures and lighting.
