Atari set to reboot Alone in the Dark & Haunted House franchises

Famed publisher Atari has announced that it will be rebooting both the Alone in the Dark and Haunted House franchises, with a view of an official reveal at this year’s PAX Prime.

No details have been forthcoming, but judging by its official website it looks as if developer ‘PURE’ is handling the reboot of Alone in the Dark, but there’s little information about who they in fact are. The horror franchise has also had a chequered gaming past, having been passed around from Infogrames to the likes of Hydravision Entertainment, and a host of others in-between. With the news of Silent Hill’s reboot there seems to be no better time for another beloved horror franchise to re-emerge from the gaming grave.

Haunted House last saw a release back in 2010 on Xbox Live Arcade and Nintendo Wii and was also met with a critically tepid response. Italian developer Dreampainters, makers of last year’s PC game Anna, are set to be at the helm of the reboot.

This year’s PAX Prime runs from August 29 to September 1 in Seattle. In the meantime, you can sign up to both official websites of the upcoming games for any more news that may be divulged.
