Atelier Ayesha coming to Europe in early 2013

The latest entry in the Atelier JRPG franchise, Atelier Ayesha: Alchemist of the Ground of Dusk, will arrive in Europe for PS3 under the title Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Twilight Land. Tecmo Koei Community Manager Chin Soon Sun confirmed this announcement on Twitter, along with giving a reminder that Tecmo Koei has acquired Atelier series developer Gust.

NIS America previously confirmed they would be localizing the game for the US. However, no release date has been announced.

The game’s story follows two sisters named Ayesha Artool and Nio Artool. When the younger sister Nio disappears, Ayesha finds clues to her sister’s whereabouts and begins an adventure to find her.

Released in Japan back in May, Atelier Ayesha is said to push the series forward with more active and dynamic combat, a redesigned crafting system, and a fresh navigation interface. Character designs for the game were produced by Hidari, who did the character designs of the anime Fractale and Natsu-iro Kiseki.

Improvements have been made graphically as well. Atelier Ayesha features more detail, advanced motion, and realistic facial expressions in its 3D models. Gust switched from its previous use of 2D-drawn images for event scenes to 3D models. The end result is one of the most gorgeous cel-shaded games I have seen since Valkyria Chronicles.
