Avalanche Studios to unveil new game at E3 2012

Avalanche Studios, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Just Cause series, has said it will be lifting the veil on one of two new games at E3 this year.

Studio founder Christofer Sundberg told IGN that the new game won’t be a sequel to Just Cause 2 or another Renegade Ops title, but something entirely different.

Furthermore, the new project will run on a modified version of the Just Cause 2 engine, and while a licence title, won’t be based on a film.

"We aren’t particularly interested in movie-based games," commented Sundberg. "I think the whole industry destroyed that. So much money’s been pumped into those crappy games, it’s amazing. It’s really scary when you look at how bad they are."

Recent gossip has Avalanche working on a Mad Max: Fury Road game to coincide with a new movie in the franchise, though Sundberg would only comment that the studio is focusing on story-driven, open world games.

"It’s really challenging and fun to show license holders what we can do with an open world," he explained.
