Avoid eBay Killzone 2 promos warns Guerilla Games

Killzone 2 developer Guerrilla Games has issued a warning to any gamers thinking of buying a promo copy of the title from eBay.

Promo copies are the full versions of the game that are sent to sites like ourselves for review purposes, but you’ll see plenty of them knocking around on eBay once the reviewer has finished with them, despite the discs being labeled "Not for Re-Sale."

Guerilla Games has warned that anyone who buys the promo version of Killzone 2 will not be able to play online. Guerilla’s Seb Downie was responding to a forum post on the Official PlayStation site where users were discussing Killzone 2 promos that have appeared on eBay for over £200.

"It is unclear whether this is a review build or something else. I can’t tell from the pic if it is [the] final version or not. If not, you will at no point be able to play online with it. Also I am sure it says on the disc ‘Not for resale’ so this guy is breaking the rules," warned Downie.

He’s not wrong. We wanted to write about the Killzone 2 multiplayer in our review, but we weren’t able to get online with our promo copy. You have been warned.

Incidentally, we’ll be bringing you the multiplayer review once we receive our full retail version.
