Dax Ginn, marketing manager for Batman: Arkham City, has said that gamers can expect to plough through the superhero sequel in roughly eight hours.
That’s presuming you adhere only to the main campaign however, with Ginn noting tackling the numerous side quests dotted throughout the sprawling city will add significant play time to the Caped Crusader’s latest outing.
“Our QA guys can straight-line it – so not doing any of the side missions and just sticking to the core narrative path – in about eight hours,” he told Gamerzines.
“If you’re exploring and trying new things, obviously that adds a lot to the experience and the game time. I would say for a normal player who knows their action-adventure games, between 20-24 hours.”
Ginn further added that developer Rocksteady’s philosophy is very much grounded in cobbling together a compelling gameplay experience that ultimately doesn’t eat up a “huge chunk” of your spare time.
“We don’t want to make these huge games that take a huge chunk out of your life. We want to tell an amazing story that you can really enjoy and not feel like you’ve got to take six months off work in order to get through it,” he explained.
Batman: Arkham City is due for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on October 18.
