In some unexpected news, it turns out that Batman: Arkham Origins will feature a brand new multiplayer mode with a twist.
Titled ‘Invisible Predator Online,’ it’s a 3 v 3 v 2 mode that pits Joker’s thugs against Bane’s thugs, as well as Batman & Robin. It all might sound confusing, but here’s the general breakdown of how it works.
The Joker and Bane thugs will be fighting each other in a third-person, cover-based style shooting to take control over points in the map. That’s the 3 v 3 part. However, two players will be put in the shoes of Batman and Robin and tasked with taking down the two teams and causing intimidation to make them call the operation off.
According to the PlayStation Blog, variety matters when playing as the Dark Knight and Boy Wonder. Performing the same take downs over and over will result in less intimidation. The idea is to be creative and unique with each take down, similar to how you would as if you were Batman himself.
Another interesting twist is the ability to play as either The Joker or Bane. This is done sometime into the match when the leader of said group walkies in, and the first person on either team to reach a certain door will take control of main leaders.
Invisible Predator Online also features customization. Your character will be able to be equipped with new outfits and gadgets such as weapons and loadout slots. The multiplayer portion of Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by Splash Damage who recently worked on Brink.
Batman: Arkham Origins will be released worldwide on October 25, 2013 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.
