Batman: The Telltale Series is available now for pre-order on the North American PlayStation Store, and a 10 percent discount is currently in effect.
That means you can get the entire season of Batman stories, debuting on August 2, for $22.49, down from the $24.99 base price.
In true Telltale Games fashion, this Batman series will have a greater focus on character development and choices than previous Batman video games (notably, Rocksteady’s critically acclaimed Arkham trilogy). As we saw in our extended E3 demo, Bruce Wayne is the focal point. The five-episode series will split time between Bruce fighting crime as Batman and interacting with key Gotham City figures as the CEO of Wayne Enterprises.
With this portrayal, Telltale Games is hoping to inject a unique take on the property–a character perspective that’s been largely absent from Batman video games. The duality of Bruce’s identity will affect the narrative, as choices made as both Batman and Bruce Wayne will affect the struggles faced by the other.
The game’s world premiere trailer has our first glimpse at gameplay and Telltale’s upgraded engine. While the lighting and color on display is some of the studio’s best work, PSU can confirm from firsthand experience that typical issues with the longtime engine, like framerate dips and awkward hitches between scene cuts and dialogue, are still present in the game.
