Battlefield 1 users who own the PlayStation 4 Pro version of DICE’s World War One shooter are reporting a number of performance issues following the launch of yesterday’s huge v1.04 update.
Gamers have flocked to various online boards such as Reddit, NeoGAF, and the official Battlefield forums to report these post-patch issues, with two in particular cropping up quite a bit: dodgy frame rate and an overall ‘softer’ look in visuals.
Battlefield 1 PS4 Pro performance takes a hit following major patch
Specifically, the reports on visuals claim that the game now has more jagged edges visible following the update when running on PS4 Pro. The frame rate meanwhile is reportedly as stable as before, with users almost unanimously agreeing that Battlefield 1 now feels worse to play, particularly in multiplayer Conquest 64 mode.
DICE, to the frustration of gamers, has been rather coy on the subject of PS4 Pro issues, with studio engineer Julian Manolov stating that this pertains to a Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signed with Microsoft and Sony.
Interestingly, Digital Foundry has run some tests on the single-player campaign for Battlefield 1 in light of the update, and found no performance hiccups. They did, however, find that TAA (essentially the game’s solution for anti-aliasing) has been tweaked somewhat.
