Electronic Arts has reportedly expressed its disappointment in the performance of Battlefield 2042, and is currently exploring a variety of options for the shooter going forward, including a free-to-play model.
That’s according to leaker Tom Henderson, who has a long-standing history outing accurate information regarding all things Battlefield.
EA is reportedly very disappointed with how Battlefield 2042 has performed and is “looking at all the options” when it comes to the title, this is including looking at Free to Play in some capacity.
Battlefield 2042 was released for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in November 2021, but has had something of a rocky ride so far, with fans lamenting the lack of core series features and lingering bugs.
Developer Ripple Effect Studio has been busy patching up the game since release, with the latest update now available to download.
EA hasn’t announced anything official about its plans for Battlefield 2042 in regards to what Henderson has mentioned, but we’ll keep you posted.
