Internal estimates at Electronic Arts have put pre-orders for Battlefield 3 “close to 3 million” as of yesterday.
The figure makes the DICE-developed shooter “the biggest first-person shooter launch in EA history,” the publishing giant revealed.
Eric Brown, chief financial officer for EA, said back in September that pre-orders for the game had hit 1.25 million units, while producer manager Kevin O’ Leary confirmed just last week that the figure had reached “a couple of million.”
Battlefield 3 releases in the U.S. today and hits Europe on Friday.
