Battlefield 3 has raked in 1.25 million pre-orders

Pre-orders for Battlefield 3 have already surpassed those of its predecessor by a significant margin for the same number of weeks up until launch, Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown has confirmed.

Speaking at the Citi 2011 Tech Conference yesterday, the executive noted the hotly-anticipated military blaster has raked in a whopping 1.25 million pre-orders, putting it “well ahead” of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Elsewhere, Brown also touched on EA’s marketing plans for the shooter: "It’s going to be a different spend curve," he explained.

"We have a pretty extensive campaign planned for Battlefield 3. We have the advantage of a two-and-a-half week early launch window versus our competitor [Modern Warfare 3], and we intend to use that."

Battlefield 3 will be deployed to retailers around the world in October 2011 for PlayStation 3 ,PC and Xbox 360.
