Earlier this year, one of the lead producers on Battlefield 6, David Sirland, commented on skill-based matchmaking, stating “we need a skill value to make balanced teams — no matter the ranges of skills total on a server. Battlefield is at its best when you play the all-out war modes with friends and different types of players – we do not want to limit that.”

EA’s Vince Zampella recently described the upcoming military shooter as a spiritual successor to Battlefield 3 & 4, and the development team have strongly hinted that the game will not go overboard when it comes to unrealistic cosmetics. Battlefield 6 is pencilled in for release on October 10, 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

EA has also revealed that Battlefield 6 will receive two Open Beta weekends in August, the first one kicking off this weekend.
