Electronic Arts has issued an updated roadmap for Battlefield 6, confirming that Season 4 in July will mark the arrival of Naval Warfare in the game alongside new maps, vehicles and gameplay systems.
The main highlights are the Tsuru Reef and Wake Island maps, which will see Battlefield 6 expanding its warfare across coastal combat spaces designed for large-scale action. EA says the new maps have been made to “bring naval combat into the core experience” while supporting the series’ traditional combined-arms gameplay.
Tsuru Reef combines island terrain, beach assaults, open water, and areas that are catered for infantry pressure. As such, the map will offer a mix of vehicle combat and on-foot engagements, with boats, aircraft, armour, and squads all playing their part. EA says the goal with Tsuru Reef is to offer an experience where Naval Warfare isn’t separated from the rest of the battle, but forms a key component in how the team moves as the battle develops.
Meanwhile, Wake Island is back in Battlefield 6 in reimagined form, with the development team having updated the map for scale, systems, and the modern setting used in Battlefield 6. This iteration of the fan-favourite map is built with Naval Warfare in mind, but also aims to preserve the identity that made Wake Island a popular map in the past.
Beyond that, EA revealed that proximity chat is in the works and is set to launch in late Season 4 for Battlefield 6, with plans to improve and evolve the feature once it’s in players’ hands. In addition, the development team are implementing Platoons in Season 5, and will “focus on the foundations of forming a social group in Battlefield 6,” with players able join Platoons of up to 100 members.
Battlefield 6 Season 4 is set to roll out in July with Season 5 currently scheduled for a Fall 2026 release.
In related news, it was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter in April that a movie adaptation of Battlefield is now in the works, with Michael B. Jordan of Sinners fame set to produce the film, as well as possibly star in.
