Developer DICE is apparently working on sequels to Mirror’s Edge and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, according to the latest slew of LinkedIn profiles.
First up, the profile for one Michael Joseph C. states that the programmer “provided video game prototype, design and demo feedback on various AAA titles including Battlefield: Bad Company 3, Dead Space 2, Devil May Cry 5 and other unannounced titles,” between 2009 and 2011.
Furthermore, an ex-Software Engineer for Electronic Arts claims that he was involved with Mirror’s Edge 2 between July – August 2009, specifically the implementation of “the wandering of crowd system within Unreal3 engine.”
Mirror’s Edge 2 also cropped up on another ex-EA employee’s CV, who was developing “new gadgets and interactive features” into the sequel, including “leaderboards” and a “mini-game embedded into mirror’s edge’s game story.”
Neither game has been officially announced at present, though chatter on Mirror’s Edge 2 – the sequel to the 2008 action-parkour fest – has been doing the rounds for at least a year now.
Most recently, Frank Gibeau, president of EA Games, said in 2011 that the firm “[hasn’t killed Mirror’s Edge” and assured fans the publishing giant was “actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way.”
With E3 just around the corner, there’s a chance we’ll hear something in early June. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more details as they break.
