Rebellion has outlined a new Battlezone update to entice gamers to step back into their Cobra tank in the popular PS VR launch title.
Firstly, the update introduces new difficulties and challenges for Battlezone, with Beginner and Extreme levels added to the roster of difficulty levels available to pick from. Both of these are free, and there’s a new Trophy available for those who conquer Extreme mode. Three new tank loadouts are also up for grabs, which can be obtained by beating the game three times—Rebellion insists they’re well worth the effort, too.
Following the Battlezone update, players will also be able to enjoy new missions and environments, all of which will be available free of charge in the shape of King of the Hill and Conquest. The new levels are all ‘swimming in lava,’ Rebellion says, which points to them showing up towards the end of the game. If that wasn’t enough, there’s a new enemy in the shape of the Jet, and players can arm themselves with a new weapon in the shape of the Railgun. Again, this new content is free.
Don’t fancy that? Then how about playing against the dev? Then you’ll be able to do just that from tomorrow at 9.00am PST, where you can take part in a four-player co-op session in this two-hour event, aptly titled Play with the Devs. Rebellion also suggests checking our Classic Mode, which drapes the action in a brilliant, retro-flavoured aesthetic.
“Finally, we know plenty of you are fans of the tank skins and bobbleheads we released on PlayStation Store last time around, and we’ve got a whole new batch of them to bling up your tank with. You may know that we, Rebellion, have recently announced Rogue Trooper Redux for PS4, a remaster of our cult comic book shooter from the days of the PS2! Well, you can celebrate the news with a brand new Rogue Trooper bobblehead, looking fine in blue on your dashboard.”
A release date for the Battlezone update has yet to be revealed.
