The nominees for Best Multiplayer Experience of 2010 are…
And the winner is…
Released alongside a host of shooters, racers, music games with superb multiplayer modes, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood surprised and impressed us with its unique take on online multiplayer combat. Amidst the crowded bustle of its exquisitely designed maps, you hunt for targets while others hunt for you. It’s a cat and mouse exercise in assassination; if you’re stealthy and keep your wits about you, you’ll get the jump on your target and take ’em out. If not, expect a painful stabbing sensation in your backside. Though it doesn’t have the most extensive suite of multiplayer offerings — a mere three modes, to be precise — it offers a genuinely new experience in a sea of multiplayer monotony.
And the Community Award goes to…
The PSU community selected DICE’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as the Best Multiplayer Experience of 2010, awarding the game 36.8% of overall votes in the category. Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops followed right behind Battlefield with 30.5%, while Ezio and his assassin brothers snuck onto the podium with 14.7% of votes. ModNation Racers played, created, and shared all 13.7% of its votes, while Rock Band 3 trailed the pack with 4.2%.
