Bethesda announce today that it will publish Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, a third-person co-op fantasy game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, an PC. The game is being developed by inXile Entertainment, which was founded in 2002 by Brian Fargo, the force behind games like The Bard’s Tale, Baldur’s Gate, and Fallout.
The development of Hunted is being overseen by Fargo, while Michael Kaufman is serving as the game’s director. Kaufman previously worked on titles like Kingpin: Life of Crime, Redneck Rampage, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein at Grey Matter.
“We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda Softworks on this upcoming release that takes us back to our roots,” says Brian Fargo, Founder of inXile Entertainment. “Bethesda’s track record speaks for itself and the game we are developing for them is no exception.”
“inXile has an extremely talented team and we couldn’t be more pleased to have them working on one of our upcoming titles,” says Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks. “We believe gamers will be really excited about what these guys have in store for them.”
The story of Hunted: The Demon’s Forge sounds like a classic Bethesda game. Two mercenaries, E’lara and Caddoc, take up a task of discovering where and why villagers have vanished. The pair’s journey will take them on a twisted path where they’ll witness death, slavery, and sacrifice. The world of Kala Moor is thrust into dark ages, and the pair must learn about the secrets of The Demon’s Forge.
E’lara is a ranged weapons expert, while Caddoc is a master of the sword. You’ll use a variety of weapons, spells, and cover tactics to battle your way through dungeons, ruins, and towns. You’ll find plenty of co-op puzzles and action. The game is powered by the Unreal 3 engine.
There is no specific release date for the game, yet. More screens are available here.
