Bethesda: Skyrim DLC will be a ‘more complete package’

Downloadable content plans for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim look set to take a leaf out of Rockstar’s book, according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard.

Speaking PSM3 (via CVG), the Skyrim game director said the team has ‘bigger’ things in mind for the fantasy RPG’s post-launch support, similar to the studios’ own Fallout 3 and Rockstar’s expansion pack model.

"For us, I’d like to do bigger things. Some of the bigger ones we did for Fallout 3 I thought were better. I like the Rockstar model, too, where it feels more like an expansion pack,” said Howard.

"I don’t know what we’re going to do yet, but we want to do something that costs a bit more but is going to be more of a complete package. Quality over quantity… we’re thinking bigger than with Fallout 3."

For those who didn’t play Skyrim’s predecessor, Oblivion, Bethesda offered some meaty DLC support in the form of the 30-hour adventure The Shivering Isles, as well as an all-new quest line via Knights of the Nine.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is due out on November 11 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
