Speculation pegged the game Bethesda Softworks has been teasing on Twitter as Fallout 4 or a new Wolfenstein title, but you can put those hopes to rest. Bethesda’s new game is a publishing effort that will fund Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s return to the survival horror genre.
The game in question, previously codenamed Zwei, will be revealed tomorrow by web giant IGN. It’s a brand new IP for Mikami, who left Capcom’s Studio 4 after Resident Evil 4’s breakaway success to found Clover Studio. After the dissolution of Clover Studio in 2007, Mikami worked with Platinum Games on Vanquish and with Suda 51 on Shadows of the Damned. In 2010, Mikami founded Tango Gameworks and joined the Zenimax publishing family, which includes Bethesda Softworks.
So, Tango Gameworks is developing, and Bethesda Softworks is publishing. That’s all we know about Mikami’s return to survival horror at this point, but stay glued to PSU.com tomorrow as we report on breaking developments and the mystery game’s first teaser trailer.
