Speaking during a YouTube broadcast at E3 2016 this week, Ubisoft chief Yves Guillemot confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development with creator Michel Ancel involved in the project.
The executive confirmed that Ancel is not only working on the long-anticipated title, but is also developing the PlayStation 4-exclusive Wild. However, we’re still no closer to finding out exactly when we can get our hands on the game.
"It’s difficult to say," said Guillemot. "Michel is working on it, but he’s doing two games at the same time–he’s doing Wild at the same time. It’s coming along, but he has to spend more time on it, so we can see it faster."
Where is Beyond Good & Evil 2?
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was originally announced way back in 2008 at Ubisoft’s Gamers Day, although we’ve heard little on the project since.
Back then, it was assumed to be hitting PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, although Ubisoft later said it would instead arrive for next-generation consoles. Ancel later admitted it would have been ‘painful’ to have the game on last-generation machines.
The original Beyond Good & Evil was released back in 2003 for PlayStation 2 and GameCube. Despite critical acclaim, the title failed to set tills alight, although nonetheless maintained a cult following. The game was later revamped in high-definition for PS3 and Xbox 360.
